What it is

A far infrared cabin for one or two people, built in Canadian hemlock, with nine carbon heating panels. It's a compact indoor unit — the size that fits a spare room, a finished basement or a corner of a garage rather than needing a dedicated space.

Far infrared warms your body directly with radiant heat rather than heating the air the way a traditional stove-and-rocks sauna does. It runs cooler as a result: this cabin's range tops out at 149°F, against the 160 to 200°F a traditional sauna typically runs. There is no stone heater, and you do not add water.

Who it's for

One or two people, indoors, in a small footprint. If you want three or four seats, the Cal Saunas SOLARA range starts at $3,000 with full electrical and freight detail published. If a permanent cabin is more than you want to commit to, the portable Relax saunas fold away between uses.

Heating and controls

Heating Nine carbon far infrared panels
Temperature range 64.6°F to 149°F (18°C to 65°C)
Timer Up to 90 minutes
Control panels Two — one inside, one outside
Monitoring Temperature sensor probes

The second control panel on the outside of the cabin is the detail worth noticing: it means the sauna can be brought up to temperature before you get in, without opening the door and losing the heat you've just made.

What's built in

  • Audio — Bluetooth, USB, MP3 and FM radio, through stereo speakers
  • Oxygen ionizer — runs while the cabin is in use
  • Lighting — seven-color chromotherapy across four light strips
  • Storage — magazine rack, towel rack, cup holders, and a handle sized to hold a phone or tablet
  • Seating — heat-resistant wooden bench

Materials and build

Frame Canadian hemlock
Door Tempered safety glass, scratch-resistant, heat-retaining
Bench Heat-resistant wood, ergonomic
SKU JV11410US+

Canadian hemlock is the standard wood for infrared cabins because it stays dimensionally stable through repeated heat cycles — it resists warping and moisture, and it stays comfortable to touch at cabin temperatures. Softer woods move; hemlock doesn't.

Delivery

Ships free, in two boxes. The boxes may arrive separately — that's normal for this cabin and not a sign that anything has gone missing. An installation guide is included.

Care

Wipe the interior down and leave the door open to ventilate after a session. That's most of what keeps the wood in good condition over the years.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an infrared and a traditional sauna?

A traditional sauna heats the air with a stove and rocks, usually running 160 to 200°F, and you pour water over the rocks for steam. An infrared sauna warms your body directly with radiant heat and runs cooler — this cabin tops out at 149°F. There is no stone heater and you do not add water.

How hot does it actually get?

The range is 64.6°F to 149°F (18°C to 65°C), adjustable, with a timer up to 90 minutes. You set it from either the inside or the outside control panel.

Why are there two control panels?

One inside, one outside. The outside panel lets you bring the cabin up to temperature before you get in, so you're not opening the door and losing heat once it's warm.

What does the oxygen ionizer do?

It's an air ionizer that runs while the cabin is in use. It's a built-in amenity alongside the audio and lighting.

What is chromotherapy lighting?

Coloured LED lighting inside the cabin — here, seven colors across four light strips, which can be cycled or set to one color. It's an ambience feature.

Why hemlock?

Canadian hemlock is the standard wood for infrared cabins. It's dimensionally stable through heat cycles, so it resists warping and moisture, and it stays comfortable to the touch at cabin temperatures.

How does it arrive, and do I assemble it?

It ships in two boxes, which may arrive separately — that's normal. An installation guide is included. Assemble it in its final position rather than moving it afterwards.

Can I use my phone in it?

Yes. The audio system takes Bluetooth, USB, MP3 and FM radio through stereo speakers, and there's a handle sized to hold a phone or tablet.
