What it is
A four-person Finnish barrel sauna in Northern European spruce with an integrated front terrace, supplied as a pre-cut kit with an 8kW Harvia Spirit electric heater included. It is the compact terrace model in this four-sauna collection.
Who it's for
Couples and small households that want a traditional outdoor sauna with somewhere to cool off, without moving up to a six-person footprint. The Helsinki shares the Tampere's 70.87-inch exterior length, but part of it goes to the terrace — so the heated room is 51.18 inches rather than the Tampere's 62.99.
Two-tier benches give a choice of seating height, and the glass front door adds light without changing the footprint.

This sauna is not held in finished stock. It is built after your order is confirmed. The manufacturer gives a window of roughly four to eight weeks from order confirmation, and we publish the range rather than the best case so you can plan around it. If the timeline moves, we will tell you.

Because it is built to order, this sauna is not returnable.
The manufacturer's published policy treats products crafted specifically to order as non-returnable, with a 24-hour cancellation window from order placement. After that window a restocking fee of 35% of the purchase price applies, and return shipping is deducted from any refund.
On a sauna at this price that is a figure worth saying out loud rather than burying. If you are not certain, call us before you order, not after. We confirm the exact terms with the manufacturer on every order.

What electrical work does it need?
The manufacturer publishes 240V single phase, 60Hz, 33 amps, 8-gauge copper for the Harvia Spirit 8kW. It is UL Listed and must be hardwired by a licensed electrician following the supplied manual and local electrical code. It is not a plug-in appliance.
The 33 amps is the heater's draw. Your electrician determines the final breaker size for your specific run — we publish the manufacturer's figures rather than a number we worked out ourselves. Send us a photo of your panel before ordering and we will talk it through.
What does it stand on?
A flat, load-bearing foundation. The manufacturer specifies a slab of approximately 1880 × 1880 mm (about 6 ft 2 in square), or strip foundations at 940 mm spacing. Bare soil and grass are not foundations.
Anchoring is the owner's responsibility. Strong winds exert real force on a garden building, and the manufacturer does not accept liability for damage caused by inadequate anchoring. Plan the base before you order — it takes longer to arrange than the delivery does.
Confirm drainage, clearances, delivery access, permitting and local requirements before ordering.
How hard is the assembly?
It ships as a pre-cut kit with no field cutting required. The manufacturer states you need basic manual skills and an assistant — a minimum of two people. All screw fittings must be pre-drilled.
Tools you supply: hammer with a wooden block and mallet, cordless screwdriver with cross-head and Torx bits, tape measure, drill bits (4, 5, 6 and 20–30 mm for the heater cable), spirit level, and an open-ended spanner.
What do I have to do to the wood?
The exterior arrives untreated. The manufacturer recommends painting or staining the outside with a suitable product to protect it and extend its life — that is the owner's job, not something done at the factory. The interior must not be treated with any paint or finish.
Wood is a natural material that swells, shrinks and can warp. Some force may be needed during assembly, and the colour will change over the first year or two. That weathering is normal and is not a defect.
Is it watertight?
No — a barrel sauna is not 100% watertight. Rain can enter, which is why two drain holes are pre-drilled in the lowest stave. These must be left clear so water can escape.
Condensation can stain the wood, particularly under the glass, so the sauna should be dried out by heating it after use. Bitumen shingles are included and should be installed promptly once the barrel is built.
Delivery
Delivery is by lorry or semi-trailer to the curb. Access to the unloading area must be clear, and the longest components are approximately 2400 mm (94.5 inches) — so walk the route before you order: gate widths, steps, slopes, overhanging branches.
Inside delivery and assembly can usually be arranged as a separate service. Ask us before ordering and we will quote it.
Warranty
Five years, parts only, against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use, from the date the original purchaser receives the product. Claims are administered by Finnish Sauna Builders with the manufacturer.
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, weather effects, routine maintenance such as tightening the barrel bands or staining the exterior, misuse or negligence. Service and labour costs are not covered.
Check your delivery against the parts list as soon as it arrives and report anything missing or damaged to us straight away.

Is the Helsinki a four-person or six-person sauna?
It is a four-person model. Some supplier page headings incorrectly identify it as six-person, but the comparison specifications, the interior dimensions and the product description all identify the Helsinki as the four-person terrace model. If you want six, the Turku is the terrace model at that size.
How is the Helsinki different from the Tampere?
Both have the same exterior dimensions and the same four-person rating. The Helsinki includes a terrace, which gives it a 51.18-inch heated interior. The Tampere has no terrace and uses more of its length for the sauna room, at 62.99 inches. Choose the Helsinki if you want somewhere covered to cool off, the Tampere if you want the longer bench.
What is the terrace actually for?
It is a covered area at the entrance, outside the heated room. In practice it is where you sit between rounds, leave towels and robes, and step out of the rain while the door is open. It is part of the same structure rather than a separate build.
Does it come with the heater?
Yes. An 8kW Harvia Spirit electric sauna heater is included, along with the barrel cradles, pre-cut staves and wall panels, glass door, two-tier benches, duckboard flooring, fasteners, metal bands, rain jacket and bitumen shingles.
What electrical service is needed?
The 8kW heater is not a plug-in appliance. The manufacturer publishes 240V single phase, 60Hz, 33 amps and 8-gauge copper, hardwired on a dedicated circuit by a licensed electrician to local code. Send us a photo of your panel before you order and we will tell you what is involved.
Does it arrive assembled?
No. It is a pre-cut DIY kit with no field cutting. Site preparation, assembly, electrical work and local approvals are separate responsibilities unless installation is purchased independently. The manufacturer specifies a minimum of two people.
Can I return it?
No. Because it is built specifically to order, the manufacturer's policy makes it non-returnable. There is a 24-hour cancellation window from order placement; after that a 35% restocking fee applies and return shipping is deducted from any refund.
