Design Your Own Outdoor Sauna
Most of our saunas are sold as complete packages — cabin, heater, and everything needed to run it — because for most people that is the right answer and it removes a dozen decisions nobody wants to make about a building.
But not everyone wants the standard build. If you need a different heater, more bench space, a changing room, a particular exterior finish, or a configuration nobody has thought to offer, we will spec it with you.
What can be changed
- Heater type and output — electric or wood-fired, sized to the cabin
- Cabin size and layout — capacity, bench arrangement, porch or no porch
- Changing rooms and covered entries on the models that offer them
- Exterior finish
- Floor plates, installation bases and chimney kits
- Accessories — stones, buckets, lighting, backrests, controls
What to have ready
Five things. With these we can usually quote on the call rather than going away and coming back.
1. Electric or wood-fired — and what is at your panel
This is the first real fork and the one that most often changes the answer. An electric heater needs a dedicated circuit run to the sauna, typically 240V. A wood-fired stove needs no electrical supply at all, which matters at the bottom of a garden, but does need a flue, clearances and somewhere dry to keep wood.
If you are unsure what you have, send us a photo of your electrical panel and we will tell you what is involved before you spend anything.
2. What it will stand on
A concrete pad, pavers, a deck rated for the weight, or compacted gravel with a proper frame — existing or planned. Bare soil and grass are not foundations, and a cabin that settles unevenly will rack its door frame. Tell us what is there and we will tell you whether it will do.
3. How the delivery reaches you
These arrive by freight on a pallet, to the curb. Walk the route before you order: gate widths, steps, slopes, overhanging branches, soft ground. Then think about how the crate gets from the curb to the pad — that is the part people underestimate. Inside delivery and assembly can usually be arranged; ask and we will quote it.
4. How many people will actually use it
Not how many it could seat at a party — how many will be in it on a normal evening. Capacity figures are a guide rather than a specification, and they depend on bench layout as much as floor area. Buying two sizes up is a common and expensive mistake.
5. When you need it
Most outdoor saunas are built to order, with lead times measured in weeks rather than days. If you have a season, an install date or a contractor booked, tell us at the start and we will be straight with you about whether it is achievable.
What happens next
Call or email and we will go through the five above, confirm what is available and what it costs, and send you a written quote with the full specification — crate dimensions, electrical requirement, assembly requirement, lead time, warranty and return terms. No deposit, no obligation.
If what you want is not possible, or is a bad idea for your site, we will say so. We would rather lose a sale than put a sauna somewhere it will not work.

Or email support@homemedspa.com with the five answers above and we will come back with a quote.
Based in Austin, Texas. We are a small team, so you will speak to someone who knows the products rather than a call centre.
Or start from a complete package
If none of the above sounds like something you want to think about, that is a perfectly good answer. Our complete packages are configured so that everything needed arrives in one order, with the electrical requirement, foundation size and assembly requirement published before the buy button.
